Windows 95
The Truth is available as both a screen saver and as a stand-alone .exe. After purchasing, follow the directions and download the compressed files. Once you have downloaded , extract the folder "Truth for Windows". Opening the folder , you will find instructions (readme.html), an images folder for the document, and the screen saver installer "truthin.exe".

(If you do need a good .zip extractor, we recommend: Aladdin Expander 2.0 for Windows, available for free download at http://www.aladdinsys.com.)

To install the screen saver, simply double-click on the truthin.exe file.

You can then adjust your screen saver preferences with the Windows Display control panel.

To quit the screen saver at any time, move your mouse a little (more than 100 pixels to be precise), or hit any key on your keyboard.

Stand alone Pixeltainment
You can view the "performance" at any time (without having to use it as a screen saver), by running the .exe file included as a bonus download. Just double-click on the "Truthisalloutthere.exe" and enjoy the show!

System Requirements
Intel pentium processor or compatible
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4 or later
Windows-compatible sound card
Quicktime 3 or newer preferably installed.

Troubleshooting
The screen saver may fail to start and display a "missing file" warning about MSVCRT.DLL ( Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library) if that file is not on the playback system. Starting with Windows 95 OSR 2 Release Microsoft decided to no longer distribute MSVCRT.DLL . Earlier Windows 95 releases did include MSVCRT.DLL with the standard operating system installation. Fortunately some MS service packs and a lot of commercial software installs the DLL, but it is possible to encounter a system that doesn't have it. If you do get the error, Macromedia has provided an installer for the DLL in their downloads area.

This screen saver is also available for Macintosh.

How to install the Mac screen saver

After purchasing the screen saver, follow the directions and download the compressed file, then extract it. You might need to use the latest version of Stuffit™, available for free at http://www.aladdinsys.com.

After extracting the Internet download, you should have a folder containing a HTML document similar to this one, and the screen saver control panel "The Truth is All Out There".

Place the file, "The Truth is All Out There", into your Control Panels folder, in your System Folder. Make sure it's the only screen saver in your control panels folder.

Restart your computer to enjoy the screen saver!

Screen Saver Preferences
You can adjust screen saver preferences by opening the "The Truth is All out There" control panel.

If you wish to have the screen saver run silently, you can turn off its sound by checking the "Mute" button.

The Truth control panel

If you wish to run the "show " without having to wait for your screen saver to kick in, just place your mouse in the appropriate "sleep now corner".

To end the screen saver at any time, move your mouse a little (more than 100 pixels to be precise) or hit any key on your keyboard.

Troubleshooting
If the screen saver is not activating, be sure that your control panel preferences are set to your liking. If another screen saver is activating instead, make sure "The Truth is All out There" is the only screen saver in your control panels folder.

FreePPP is known to conflict with screen savers created using Cinemac®, like this one is. If you can, we recommend you switch to PPP (free from Apple) or Open Transport.

System Requirements
The screen saver requires a PowerPC, running System 7.5.5 or later. Sorry OS 9 or Classic mode only!
